🥫 Storage
Two-ingredient frosting fudge is rich and delicious, so a little piece goes a long way! Thankfully, it stores just as easily as it is made.
Transfer any leftover fudge to an airtight container. I like to place bits of parchment or wax paper in between so it's easier to stack up the pieces.
For best results, keep 2 ingredient fudge refrigerated. That way, it'll last for two to three weeks!
To make this great recipe stretch a little longer, freeze the well-wrapped fudge for up to three months. Then, just transfer a piece (or two!) to the fridge to thaw anytime you're in the mood for some wonderful fudge.

📖 Variations
- Instead of chocolate chips, finely chop a chocolate bar into small, shard-like pieces.
- If you don't love the flavor of lemon, simply use vanilla frosting to make 2 ingredient vanilla fudge.
- Instead of cutting the fudge into square-shaped pieces, use heavy-duty cookie cutters! Simple shapes work best, like circles or hearts.
- Get creative with the sprinkles! Use school colors for an easy dessert after football games, or use your kids' favorite shades for a special occasion, like bringing home a good report card.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to transform the fudge into a vibrant treat. In the photo above, I used strawberry frosting and stirred a few drops of red into the melted chocolate for a festive Valentine's day pink!
- Swap the sprinkle for another type of garnish. I love to add mint chocolate chips or crushed peppermint to chocolate fudge during the holiday season.
- You can make so many different flavors of fudge using this same, simple recipe. Check out the chart below for some of our favorite flavor combos.

💭 Things to know
Expert Tip: Chocolate burns easily, so don't microwave it in anything longer than 15-second increments.
- Stirring in between each increment in the microwave helps distribute the heat, which also prevents the fudge from burning.
- Be sure to use a rubber spatula to stir the fudge, rather than a spoon. The spatula will scrape every last bit up from the bottom or off of the sides of the bowl.
- If you use a larger pan, the fudge will spread out more and the pieces will be thinner. If you don't have an 8"x8" pan, use one similar in size, like a 9" cake pan, a small oval-shaped casserole dish, or a pie plate.
- Avoid using a 9"x13" glass pan—it's too large. (Unless you want really thin fudge pieces, of course. In that case, go ahead!)
- I'll run my knife under steaming hot water to heat it up before cutting the fudge. It makes the knife cut through a little more easily. However, be sure to dry the knife off before slicing into your delicious dessert.
- This 2 ingredient recipe makes a rich, firmer fudge. If you prefer a softer texture, let the fudge sit at room temperature for an hour or so before enjoying it.
👩🍳 FAQs
You can if you want to, but this easy recipe tastes best as written—trust me. Whipped frosting makes the fudge a little too soft and the cream cheese frosting makes the lemon fudge a bit tangier.
For clean, gift-worthy (or Instagram-worthy) squares, use the edges of the foil or parchment paper to pull the entire block of fudge out of the pan. Then, you can get better leverage with a sharp knife to cut straight squares.
Sure! The only thing you need to avoid is burning the chocolate on the bottom, so give it a good stir—and, then, don't stop stirring! Also, don't let any water splash into the chocolate when you're setting up the boiler.
Yum—absolutely. Swap a jar of peanut butter in place of the chocolate and you'll have easy peanut butter fudge. However, I'd also recommend swapping the lemon frosting with vanilla or chocolate frosting (mmmm, 2 ingredient chocolate peanut butter fudge! Wow!)

📞 The last word
Homemade candy is sort of a rarity these days. We're all so busy that it's hard to think about spending time checking temperatures of sugar syrups and making sure the sugar caramelizes without scorching.
That's why I love SUPER easy recipes like this one. Try it and let me know what you think!

I know y'all don't always like the stories bloggers tell so when I have one I try to put it at the very bottom so you can read or skip as you like.
When I was growing up fudge only happened at Christmastime. You can read about THAT in my chocolate fudge story.
I first saw different flavors of fudge at Buc-ee's here in Texas. If you don't know it's a HUGE gas station ... and...so...much...more.
Anyway I was really intrigued with the idea of other flavors of fudge as gifts and small treats to serve with after-dinner coffee but I still wasn't thrilled about the extra time it took.
Then I found this. This recipe is magic. Absolute magic. You'll see.
