A Texas Mule cocktail is my twist on an old favorite, the iconic Moscow Mule recipe. Spicy, sweet, and tangy — you’ll love this refreshing, summer cocktail! The ginger flavor combined with the hot sauce gives the drink a bite that leaves your lips tingling. Make it in a pitcher because this is going to disappear fast!
For this recipe you’ll need: reposado tequila, peach schnapps, simple syrup, lime juice, hot sauce, extra ginger ginger beer, basil leaves or mint leaves

I can’t really remember when I had my first Moscow Mule cocktail but it’s a drink that I’ve loved for a long time. I am unable to resist anything with good ginger flavor so it really is a no brainer. I was even happier when I discovered that if you put bourbon in it instead of vodka you got a Kentucky Mule.
It’s not like I wasn’t satisfied with those wonderful drinks. I was. And I am. It’s just that Texans have a lot of pride in our state and I decided that if there was a Moscow Mule and a Kentucky Mule then by golly there was going to be a Texas Mule. I thought about just substituting the vodka with tequila but that makes a Mexican Mule. No bueno.
Then I started thinking about Texas and especially my area. Peaches!
So after a few failures that went down the sink I ended up with this Texas Mule. Tangy, sweet, spicy and enough kick to knock you on your butt… Sounds like Texas to me.
I would have garnished with sliced jalapeno if I had one but I didn’t. Since I mixed this at 5 o clock this morning (the dogs decided it was time to wake up) there was no way I was heading out to the store to get a jalapeno when basil from my kitchen porch would work just fine.
I know that mules are generally served in chilled copper cups but my sensory processing disorder is not compatible with copper touching my lips… go ahead and use them if you like… I prefer glass. 🙂
