It's my twist on that the iconic cocktail recipe. Spicy, sweet, and tangy -- you'll love this refreshing, summer cocktail that I'm calling a Texas Mule! The ginger flavor combined with the hot sauce gives the drink a bite that leaves your lips tingling.
Make it in a pitcher because this is going to disappear fast!

When a mule cocktail is made with tequila it's called a Mexican mule. It's usually some combination of tequila and ginger beer with lime or other citrus.
That depends on your love of ginger! I prefer Reed's Jamaican Extra Ginger, but other possibilities are Bundaberg, or FeverTree.

Texas Mule Cocktail

- 2 sprigs basil, or mint
- 2 ounces reposado tequila
- 1 ounce peach schnapps
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- ½ ounce lime juice
- 2 dashes hot sauce
- 4 ounces ginger beer, or to fill glass
- ice
Instructions
- Muddle the basil leaves in the bottom of a shaker.
- Add the tequila, peach schnapps, simple syrup, lime juice, and hot sauce.
- Add ice and shake vigorously for a minute or so.
- Add ice to an on the rocks glass.
- Strain the tequila mixture into the glass.
- Top with ginger beer.
- Garnish with more basil leaves.

- If you like it a little spicier garnish with a couple of jalapeno slices.
