🗝️ Key takeaways: why this recipe is your new favorite

  • You can whip up this no-bake Oreo cream cheese pie with just six ingredients and barely any prep time—it never disappoints.
  • No-bake pie is perfect for a potluck, picnic, or just because! Make sure you’ve got a fridge or cooler close by to keep it chilled.
  • Refrigerate your icebox pie overnight so the filling fully sets and slightly softens the crushed Oreos.

The dreamy filling of this Oreo icebox pie is a rich mixture of smooth cream cheese, fluffy Cool Whip, and powdered sugar.

Fold in the crushed Oreos and pour that luscious goodness into your crust, smooth it out, and top it off with even more Oreos…because why not?

🧾 Gather your ingredients: what you'll need

This is an overview of the ingredients. You'll find the full measurements and instructions in the green recipe card (printable) at the bottom of the page.

Labeled ingredients for Oreo icebox pie.

📖 Make it your own: yummy variations

  1. Want to use a different flavor of Oreo? Have fun with it! Use citrusy lemon creme Oreos, vanilla golden Oreos, or chocolate creme Oreos for a double dose of chocolate flavor.
  2. Try my Homemade Cool Whip without gelatin. The secret ingredient is instant vanilla pudding mix!
  3. Use any crumb crust you prefer. Try peanut butter cookies!
  4. Swap the vanilla extract with Kahlua coffee liquor for a subtle, boozy flavor. (Adults only, please!)
  5. Feel free to add other fun mix-ins, like mini M&M candy, chopped-up candy bars, or shredded coconut flakes.

🔪 Step-by-step guide: how to make Oreo Icebox Pie

Topping the Oreo icebox pie with whole Oreos.

Cover and chill overnight. Serve with whipped cream and extra Oreos on top.

💭 Insider tips: things to know

  1. I recommend sifting the powdered sugar before mixing it with the cream cheese so there aren’t any sugar clumps.
  2. It takes the full 5 minutes to thoroughly beat the cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla. You want the mixture to become as light and fluffy as possible for the best texture.
  3. Don't use low-fat or whipped cream cheese—it can make the filling taste a little watery.
  4. You have to chill the icebox pie for at least eight hours (or overnight) before serving. This sets the filling and softens the crushed Oreos.

Marye's Tip o' the day

Cream cheese needs to be at room temperature before mixing, so take it out of the fridge at least an hour before you plan to make your Oreo icebox pie.

🥫 Leftover love: how to store Oreo icebox pie

This is called an icebox pie for a reason: you have to store it in the fridge!

A no-bake cream cheese Oreo icebox pie will stay fresh in the fridge for about three to four days—as long as it’s properly covered or stored in an airtight container. The key is keeping it cool and sealed to prevent the crust from getting soggy and the cream filling from drying out.

Serve leftovers straight outta the fridge. If you’re not planning to finish it within four days, you can freeze it for up to two months.

To do so, just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil to lock in that fresh flavor. When you’re ready to enjoy it, let it thaw in the fridge for a few hours, or enjoy it as a fun, frozen treat!

🤫 Marye's secret for zhuzhing it up -

I like to pipe eight big dollops of Cool Whip around the edge of the pie and stick an Oreo standing straight up on top of each. It looks so fancy and also makes it easier to slice the pie into even servings.

You could also coat the top with sprinkles, extra Oreo crumbs, a festive cake topper, or drizzles of chocolate sauce!

zhuzh: verb. To make something more interesting or attractive

👩‍🍳 Let's answer those questions: FAQs

Have other questions? Ask me in the comments!

How do I make a chocolate crumb crust from scratch?

It’s so easy! My recipe for an Oreo crumb crust uses two cups of crushed Oreos, or about 22 cookies (including the filling), and six tablespoons of melted butter. That’s it!

Firmly press the crumb mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate and chill it for a half hour before adding the filling.

Can I use other Oreo flavors?

Absolutely! There’s no shortage of Oreo flavors. Mix it up with lemon creme, dark chocolate, chocolate creme, vanilla, cool mint, or peanut butter Oreos. Use your favorite flavor.

Can I use double-stuffed Oreos for pie?

For the pie filling and decorative Oreos on top, yes! However, avoid the double-stuffed versions for homemade crust because they contain too much filling, making the crust fall apart.

⏲️ Marye's time saving hacks -

Toss the Oreos into a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin. No food processor needed—less cleanup, more efficiency!

🍽️ No waste: creative ways to repurpose

Don't have enough pie left to feed the whole family? Nip the arguments in the bud with these fun ideas:

  • Throw a slice of Oreo icebox pie into a blender with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some milk. Blend it up for an over-the-top Oreo milkshake that’ll make your taste buds sing.
  • Crumble the pie and layer it in a glass with whipped cream or pudding for a fancy parfait. Add chocolate syrup for extra flair.
  • Break leftover Oreo pie into chunks and sprinkle it over a bowl of ice cream. Instant upgrade!
  • Scoop out small balls of the pie filling, roll them in crushed Oreos, and freeze. Now you’ve got bite-sized cheesecake treats that are dangerously good.

📞 Wrapping it up: the last word

Icebox pies are just as convenient to have in the freezer in the cold months of the year as they are during the summer!

Since they freeze well it's easy to make 2 or 4 at a time and keep them in the deep freeze to pull out in case an emergency dessert becomes necessary. A few minutes at room temperature, served slightly frozen, and voila!

You get the hostess of the year award.

If you click on the number of servings in the recipe card you can adjust the measurements up or down for the exact number of servings you need.
