❤️ Why you'll love this recipe

  • There's nothing quite as decadent as a homemade chocolate truffle.
  • They're made with simple ingredients.
  • Creamy homemade truffles make welcome gifts during the holiday season.
  • Perfect for other special occasions like Valentine's Day, bridal showers, and Mother's Day.

Homemade lemon white chocolate truffles are rich, creamy bites infused tangy lemon zest. You can add the optional lavender for extra delicious flavor.

With just 3 main ingredients this recipe goes together quickly and the results are always spectacular!

Pecan pralines are another homemade candy that makes a great gift!

🧾 Ingredients

For this recipe you'll need:

  • white chocolate
  • sweetened condensed milk (I use Eagle Brand)
  • confectioner's sugar

Optional -

  • culinary grade lavender
  • lemon zest

🔪 Instructions

Note: This is an overview of the instructions for this recipe. The full instructions are in the green recipe card below.

  1. Add all of the ingredients (including lavender if you're using it) to a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap. Chill until firm.
  4. Form into balls
  5. Chill.
  6. Roll in confectioner's sugar.

🥫 Storage

Store tightly covered in an airtight container in the refrigerator with parchment paper or waxed paper between the layers.

This creamy, homemade candy will be good for at least a week.

Freeze in an airtight container up to three months.

📖 Variations

If you'd like to change these up you can add any (or a combination of any) of the following flavor variations:

  • ½ tablespoon culinary lavender buds that have been ground to a powder in a grinder. You can also add them whole but this bothers some people.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup coconut ( I run mine through a blender quickly before adding)
  • ¼ cup ground almonds
  • 1-½ teaspoons orange zest, lime zest, or grapefruit zest
  • roll the finished white chocolate truffle in chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs

💭 Things to know

Expert Tip: White chocolate truffles will get soft at room temperature so keep them in the refrigerator.

  • Chill the mixture completely before trying to roll into balls or you'll have a huge mess. This is an EASY project but there's no hurrying it!
  • The heat of your hands will cause the ganache to get melty. If you are bothered by textures and sticky hands wear gloves.
  • Use a tiny cookie scoop or melon baller to get evenly sized truffles.
  • Roll truffles into balls in small batches, keeping the remainder of the white chocolate ganache in the refrigerator.
  • Because these are made with sweetened condensed milk they are very sweet but they hold up a little better. The lemon helps to balance the sweetness.
  • The yield from this recipe will depend a lot on what size you make them AND how much you lick the spoon and/or sample your creations.
  • Candied violets are a GORGEOUS garnish for these.
  • Substitute orange or lime zest for the lemon.
  • Sprinkle finished truffles with sea salt crystals.
  • For best flavor it's a good idea to refrigerate them overnight before serving.

👩🏻‍🍳 Frequently asked questions

Here are the questions I am most frequently asked about this recipe.

What are chocolate truffles coated with?

You can roll them in confectioner's sugar or dip them in melted chocolate, or white chocolate chips.

Can you freeze white chocolate truffles?

Yes, they freeze very well.

What goes good with white chocolate?

Almost any fruit or nut. I especially like citrus like these lemon lavender white chocolate truffles.

Why don't you use heavy cream in this truffle recipe?

Because we're using sweetened condensed milk (make sure it's sweetened condensed) there's no need for heavy cream.

📞 The last word

Rich chocolate of any sort holds a special place in my heart. I just can't turn it down. I have tons of truffle recipes and I love to make this super easy sweet treat as often as possible.

I prefer to use the microwave rather than a double boiler because there's less chance of causing the chocolate to seize from water getting in it. Plus, I just think it's easier.

This easy white chocolate truffles recipe is one of my favorites. It has very few ingredients, it goes together fast, and it always works.
