👩‍🍳 FAQs

Are poppy seeds good for you?

Poppy seeds are a good source of calcium and iron.

Do poppy seeds add flavor or just texture?

They add a little of both. Poppy seeds have a unique flavor and the tiny seeds add crunch as well.

Do you cook chicken before putting it in a casserole?

For this casserole, yes you need to cook the chicken first.

Should you cover a chicken casserole?

This casserole should not be covered so that the buttery Ritz Cracker topping gets golden brown and crispy.

Do I have to use poppy seeds in this casserole? Can I leave them out?

You can leave them out if you like. The casserole won't be the same but it will still be delicious.

I made this this week, splitting it into two casserole dishes. I took one to my 85-year-old mom, who is self-quarantined, and she loved it. I added broccoli, and because we're gluten intolerant I used GF crackers. So, so good! Thank you for a wonderful comfort food recipe!!
