The Jameson Irish Redhead Cocktail is kind of a girly way to drink Irish whiskey. Sprite, grenadine, lemon, lime, and Jameson Irish whiskey combine to make a light, sweet, bubbly drink… but like most redheads it packs a punch so watch out!
I don’t know about you but I am so glad it’s March! I am totally over winter, I’ll tell ya. In the past two weeks the kids have missed five days of school and my house has looked like a Currier and Ives postcard. Not cool Texas.
Snow is pretty but I prefer to look at it from the inside and I have had to drive in it way to much lately. Anyway… March. It came in like a frigid lion this year so hopefully that means it’s going out like a very temperate lamb.
One can hope, right?
March is a great month. My eldest daughter’s birthday, my youngest granddaughter’s birthday, and of course, St. Patrick’s day all happen in March. Don’t get me wrong — it’s not quite the month April is (my birthday) but it’ll do. March is the month to play with Irish whiskey cocktail recipes. Like this Irish Redhead cocktail from Jameson.
While you might be able to get away with cheap rum or vodka whiskey is one of those things that you need to buy quality. Get the best you can afford because it really does make a difference. Good, really good, whiskey has a smooth, velvety texture and a mellow, sweet flavor. Bad whiskey tastes rough and burns going down.
In this cocktail whiskey (good whiskey) is mixed with lemon, lime, real grenadine, and sprite for a sparkly, citrus, sweet mix that is just so right for so many occasions. I think of it as a girly drink because it is pinkish and sweet but it’s just a good cocktail, similar to Jack and Ginger, if you like that. I do!
Serve it with a cherry and a slice of lime in an on the rocks glass. I’m posting a low-carb version of this on Lowcarb-ology, too. It works great either way.
Be sure to use real grenadine, not the fake red stuff that is called grenadine sometimes. It should contain sugar and pomegranate. Here are some links to products that may be helpful. They are affiliate links so if you click through and buy the product it helps support the blog. Thanks!
