❤️ Why you'll love it

  • All the flavor of cake batter without the raw eggs.
  • No cream cheese so it's lighter and fluffier.
  • Greek yogurt adds protein so you can at least pretend it's kind of healthy.

You may call this easy cake batter dip recipe Funfetti cake batter dip or Copycat Dunkaroos Dip depending on what decade you were born.

No matter what name it goes by it's always a hit at birthday parties, class parties, and nearly any other celebration it shows up at!

It's an easy recipe and I'll show you how to make homemade dunkaroo dip step by step.

🧾 Ingredients

Ingredients for funfetti dip.

  • Funfetti cake mix (Pillsbury is best and Amazon didn't have it as of this writing)
  • Cool Whip
  • Vanilla Greek yogurt
  • Rainbow sprinkles
  • Vanilla extract (optional - I like the MOST vanilla flavor!)
  • Milk ( you may need a little to think out the dip if it seems to thick)
  • Cookies to dip - I used Annie's Cake Batter Flavored Bunnies

🔪 Instructions

If you've been craving that 1990s Dunkaroos Dip recipe (because the new one doesn't really taste the same) here you go!

Step by step images for making this recipe.
  1. Whisk the Cool Whip and the yogurt together in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  2. Add in the vanilla.
  3. Stir in the cake mix a little at a time . Add milk if it seems to thick.'
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours. Overnight is better.

You can freeze it for up to 3 months for longer storage.

💭 Tips

Expert Tip: Don't over mix this dip once the cake mix goes in because you'll develop the gluten and it will get a bit sticky. Just give it a quick mix, cover, and refrigerate.

  • I found that Pillsbury cake mix works best in this recipe. The others tended to get too glutinous.
  • Some people have concerns about bacteria in raw flour in the cake mix. If you are concerned about this spread the raw cake mix out on a baking sheet and heat in the oven at 350F for 10 minutes. Some cake mixes have been heat treated so be sure to check the box first.
  • Adding in about ¼ teaspoon of almond flavoring is delicious, too.
  • Change up the sprinkles for any occasion - Pink, blue, or yellow for a baby shower would be so cute!
  • I would not use an electric mixer with this recipe. I think it develops the gluten in the cake mix too much.
  • For a softer, creamier funfetti dip recipe use just half the cake mix.
  • I like Dunkaroo Dip best served pretty close to room temperature so I try to pull it from the refrigerator about 30 minutes prior to serving.

If you love sweet snacks as much as we do try my s'mores puppy chow recipe!
