🗝️ Key takeaways: why this recipe is your new favorite

  • Using the air fryer gives garlic bread a crunchier texture on the outside but keeps it soft and chewy on the inside.
  • Serve garlic bread with lasagna, spaghetti, and all of your pasta favorites!
  • Bake the garlic bread in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes at 375F if you prefer not to use an air fryer.

I use my homemade soft French baguette bread recipe (it takes just 30 minutes!) because the flavor is amazing! An Italian or French loaf, Texas toast, or ciabatta from the store work equally well.

🧾 Gather your ingredients: what you'll need

This is an overview of the ingredients. You'll find the full measurements and instructions in the green recipe card (printable) at the bottom of the page.

Labeled ingredients for this recipe.

📖 Make it your own: yummy variations

  1. Make it cheesy: If you love cheesy garlic bread add more Parmesan cheese. Mozzarella cheese or Provolone cheese are good, too!
  2. No fresh garlic: Use garlic powder to taste.
  3. No baguette: Hamburger buns make great garlic bread if you don't have a baguette or French bread on hand! Split a hamburger bun and spread the garlic butter on the soft insides. Air fry as instructed below. You can also use sandwich bread, hot dog buns, Italian bread, English muffins, and more! Just use what you have - I've even used bagels in a pinch.

🔪 Step-by-step guide: instructions for success

This is an overview of the instructions for this easy air fryer garlic bread. Full instructions are in the green recipe card at the bottom of the page. Click on the image to see it full size.

Blend the ingredients for the garlic butter in a food processor or blender.

Slice a baguette.

Spread the butter on the slices of bread.

Place the bread on the air fryer rack and set for 360F for 3 to 5 minutes. Check often

🤫 Marye's secret for zhuzhing it up -

Get fancy! Serve with a spring of fresh rosemary or a basil leaf lying on top, or sprinkle with fresh parsley. It's pretty and it gives a little extra flavor. Perfect with all your favorite pasta dishes!

zhuzh: verb. To make something more interesting or attractive

🍴Must have tools: essential equipment

  1. air fryer
  2. food processor, optional but makes things easy
  3. measuring cups and spoons
  4. butter knife
  5. sharp knife
  6. bread knife
  7. cutting board

🥫 Leftover love: how to store and reheat

Personally, I prefer to use leftovers in this leftover garlic bread casserole but you can certainly store it for another meal.

Refrigerator

Leftover garlic bread should be wrapped in aluminum foil and kept at room temperature for about 24 hours.

You can refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Any leftover garlic butter should be placed in an airtight container and refrigerated. It should be fine for a week or more.

Freeze:

You can freeze leftovers as well. Flash freeze the slices in a single layer on the baking sheet. Once they are frozen transfer to a freezer bag or airtight container.

Freeze for up to 3 months.

Reheat

In the oven: wrap in aluminum foil and reheat at 350F for about 15 minutes.

In the air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for 3 minutes. Wrap the garlic bread in aluminum foil. Place in basket and air fry for 2 - 3 minutes, or until crispy and hot.

Marye's Tip o' the day

Different brands of air fryers behave differently. Keep a close watch on your garlic bread for the first couple of times you make it until you know exactly how long it takes for your brand.

💭 Insider tips: things to know

  1. If you like a soft garlic bread recipe check it after about 1-½ minutes in the air fryer.
  2. Make sure the butter is at room temperature but not melting before mixing in the other ingredients - especially if you're doing it by hand.
  3. You may need to adjust cooking time if you cut slices thicker or thinner than I do.
  4. Salted or unsalted butter is fine - whatever you have.

👩‍🍳 Let's answer those questions: FAQs

Have other questions? Ask me in the comments!

Can you put garlic bread in an air fryer?

Absolutely yes! In my opinion it's the best way to make garlic bread!

Can garlic bread be left out overnight?

Yes. You can wrap it in aluminum foil and it's fine the next day. I wouldn't leave it out more than 1 day, though.

⏲️ Marye's time saving hacks -

Prepare a large batch of garlic butter ahead of time and store it in the fridge. When you’re ready to make garlic bread, just spread it on and pop the bread in the air fryer.
