❤️ Why you'll love it
- Creamy, sweet, and full of tropical flavor. This Blue Hawaiian cocktail recipe has tangy sweetness from pineapple and smooth creaminess from the coconut cream!
- Pretty blue color gives it a feeling of being on a tropical island. It's the type of drink that evokes feelings of relaxation. You can imagine yourself on a white sand beach with warm breezes, the slap of the waves, and this tropical drink in hand..
- So stinkin' easy to make! It's just a blend of 4 ingredients and some ice.
It's the perfect cocktail for kicking back and watching a 1960s Bikini movie on Netflix when it's cold and rainy outside - or too hot to set foot outside the door.
📖 Variations
- Try using coconut rum or pineapple rum.
- Make this a non-alcoholic mocktail by leaving out the rum and blue curacao. Use blue curacao syrup, which is non-alcoholic. One brand that makes it is Torani and you can find it on Amazon.
- Leave the coconut cream out and use coconut water or cream soda for a lighter drink.
🥫 How to store leftovers
Since you generally make this drink one at a time you won't often have leftovers.
- Any leftover creme of coconut will need to be refrigerated.
- If you make this in a pitcher pour leftovers into airtight containers and keep refrigerated. You'll need to shake it up before serving again.
👩🍳 FAQs
The Blue Hawaiian cocktail is creamy and sweet while the Blue Hawaii is clear, not creamy, and is made with sour mix.
You can use Triple Sec in place of the Blue Curacao but you'll need to add food color to make it blue.
I've used silver tequila or vodka in place of the rum.

📞 The last word
Be careful with these. A Blue Hawaiian cocktail is one of those drinks that you can sip on all night and when you stand up the universe tilts.
They do pack a punch so sip slow and snack while you are drinking. The most used garnish is a pineapple slice but I really like just sugaring the rim with blue sugar crystals - it's beautiful and I like the texture when I drink from the glass.
If you like Pina Coladas then you will probably like this because, while it doesn't taste exactly the same, it does have a lot of similarities.
