🥫 Leftover love: how to store and reheat broccoli and stuffing casserole
Broccoli stuffing casserole takes just minutes of prep the first time around and is even easier to enjoy as leftovers!
Refrigerate
Let the baking dish cool down and cover it tightly with plastic wrap, or spoon leftovers into an airtight container. Store in the fridge for three to four days.
Freeze
To make leftovers last a little longer, feel free to freeze them for up to three months. Prevent freezer burn by using a freezer-safe container.
Reheat
Let frozen leftovers thaw overnight in the fridge. Then, use the microwave to heat individual portions. Otherwise, place the baking dish in the oven (covered with foil, not plastic) and reheat for 15-20 minutes.
Marye's Tip o' the day
Quickly thaw frozen broccoli and peppers using the microwave and a microwave-safe bowl. However, just thaw it—don't overcook the broccoli. It'll get even more tender in the oven.
💭 Insider tips: things to know
- Be sure to drain out any excess moisture from the thawed veggies.
- You don't have to melt the cheese cubes when you mix them in. The heat from baking will do that for you!
- Cube and shred the cheeses yourself. It'll melt much better that way.
- Feel free to use cooking spray, butter, or lard to grease your baking dish.
- This is a great recipe to prep ahead of time, especially if you want to focus on cooking your main dish. Simply assemble the easy casserole as directed, cover it, and store it in the fridge for a day or so.
- You can make this in the crockpot on LOW for 4-6 hours. Be sure to use a crockpot liner for easy cleanup.

I prefer a box of Stovetop stuffing—that's the brand name for dry stuffing mix. Choose whichever flavor you like best.
Yes, remember to follow the directions on your package of stuffing mix. It won't cook properly if you just dump it on top of the casserole.
If the top of the casserole is getting dark but the cook time isn't over yet, lay a loose piece of foil over top. This will reflect direct heat away while allowing the inside to cook to gooey, cheesy perfection.
Nope! If you want to use this recipe for chicken broccoli stuffing casserole, the meat must be cooked first—or use leftover chicken. However, I do have a separate recipe for chicken broccoli casserole using raw chicken linked in the section below!
⏲️ Marye's time saving hacks -
Toss the frozen veggies in a colander over a large bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight. When you're ready to put the casserole together the excess moisture will have drained off and you'll be ready to go.
