This creamy jalapeño ranch dip is cool, spicy, and dangerously delicious. It’s the kind of dip that makes people hover by the snack table and pretend they’re “just getting one more chip” while they shamelessly double (and triple) dip. Perfect for parties, tailgates, or eating straight from the bowl while hiding from your responsibilities.

🗝️ Why this jalapeno ranch dip is the star of your party

  • It’s ranch... but hotter. Like, literally. Same creamy goodness, but with a spicy kick that says, “I don’t play by your Midwestern potluck rules.”
  • Ridiculously easy. Toss it in a bowl, whisk 3 or 4 times while shamelessly repeating "there's no place like Texas" , and bam—you’re the MVP of snack time with about five minutes of effort. Go ahead and take all the credit.
  • It goes with everything. Chips, wings, veggies, pizza crusts, fried pickles—heck yeah, a spoon if no one’s watching. Anything that's not moving is fair game.

🧾 Ingredients for homemade ranch dip

Labeled ingredients for this homemade ranch dressing with jalapeno.
  • Ranch seasoning mix because it's quick and easily available. Make your own if you want to.
  • Jalapeno brings the heat and adds a little crunch. Be sure to taste the pepper before adding it - jalapenos vary in heat from pepper to pepper.
  • Mayonnaise brings the sweet creaminess.
  • Sour cream adds tangy richness..
  • Buttermilk thins it down to your preferred consistency plus brings that tangy Southern flavor. Learn how to make buttermilk and buttermilk substitutes.
  • Limes wake up the flavor. You'll want fresh limes because you'll be using the zest as well as the juice.
  • Cilantro is one of those flavors not everyone likes but it's pretty essential here.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream, use full fat for best results
  • ½ cup buttermilk, shake it like it owes you money
  • 1 –2 jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for mild, left in for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons Hidden Valley™Ranch Seasoning, Dressing & Dip Mix
  • 1 squeeze fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped fine - optional

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together mayo, sour cream, and buttermilk until silky smooth and irresistible.
  • Stir in jalapeños, cilantro, lime zest, and Ranch seasoning packet.
  • Squeeze lime over top and stir.
  • Give it a taste—add more salt or a little extra lime juice if it needs a kick in the pants.
  • Cover and chill for at least an hour. Longer = better flavor, but we won’t judge if you dive in early.
  • Serve with chips, tacos, fried green tomatoes, or anything that doesn’t bite back.

Notes

Storage:
Store any leftover jalapeño ranch dip (assuming you somehow have any left) in an airtight container in the fridge. It’ll keep for about 5 to 7 days—though let’s be real, it won’t last that long. Just give it a good stir before serving in case it settles. Do not freeze it unless you enjoy weird, watery disappointment.
Tips:
  • Be sure to let the dip chill for at least an hour.
  • Want it mild? Remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeños.
