Swedish Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 3 cups peeled , cored and sliced Granny Smith apples
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter , melted
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg , lightly beaten
  • 1 9 "- unbaked pie crust

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon, 1 tablespoon sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  • Mix gently.
  • Fill the crust with sliced apples, mounding in the center.
  • In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup of sugar with the melted butter.
  • Stir in pecans, flour, egg and salt.
  • Mix well.
  • Spread mixture over the apples.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Cool slightly before serving
