We are all busy. Lives are crazy, we jump out of bed in the morning and fall back into it 18 hours later — if we’re lucky. What goes on in between those two times is often something like a goose down factory exploding in a tornado. When Brita contacted me about doing a “Day in the Life” kind of blog post showing y’all how to stay hydrated with Brita I figured it would be lots of fun! I’d take y’all to the gym with me, work on recipes, take the dogs out, work in my garden… you know… my day. I headed to Walmart to pick up a water bottle, hoping it could stand up to the abuse I would give it. It was in the hardware section and I did find it after a few tries.
Then, at the last minutes, I found out that my son was unexpectedly going to be at the Waco air show with the Thunderbirds and, since Waco is just an hour away there was no way I wasn’t going to be there. What better way to show y’all how easy it is to stay hydrated with Brita than to spend a 95 degree day on a tarmac watching airplanes do amazing things?
So, come with me as we go to meet my son in Waco and spend the morning with him, ok? Oh, and bring lots of water. It’s hot out here!
So, I had to be up early because we were leaving the house at 7:00 AM. Except in our family that means 7:15 AM or later because I haven’t been anywhere on time since my third child was born.
No time for coffee. I grabbed the Brita because I knew that I had to get a head start on hydration. I’ve found, personally, that if I can get some water down before breakfast it takes the edge off my hunger and I am less likely to eat fast or too much.
Keeping a full water bottle in the car is one way I can be sure that I keep drinking water. I used to head for Starbucks or Sonic for something to drink while I was out but now I just fill up where ever I am. The cool thing is that the Brita filtered water bottle actually filters the water as you drink it so no matter where you get it you know it’s pure and tastes good.
We got to the Cracker Barrel in Waco and all thirteen of us sat down to a family breakfast. My husband, myself, our four youngest, my eldest daughter and my son-in-law, my three grandkids, and my son and daughter-in-law. By then I’d finished my first bottle without even really trying.
Then we were off to the air show. My daughter-in-law is a crew chief and was working the morning shift so she went off to get ready for the show. My son is also a crew chief but he was working a later shift so we had a couple of hours to catch up. I have to say it’s so much nicer now that he is back in the United States. I see him much more often!
My youngest granddaughter grabbed my water bottle and shared with me. I felt like a liquid drug dealer the way I was pushing the kids to drink water. You know, they watch us. I’ve found that the more they see me with a water bottle in my hand the more likely they are to reach for their own water bottles.
It was hard when it was time for my son to go — it always is. Even at 30 years old he is still my kid.
Once the planes took off my daughter-in-law was able to come to the tent and visit with us a little more. I have really hit the jackpot with my in-laws. The are both as dear to me as my kids. So… when it was time for her to go and bring her pilot in there were more tears.
It’s how I am, y’all. I can’t help it. In a perfect world I’d have a 200 acre property with my kids on it… close enough that I could spend time with them but far enough away for privacy for all of us, you know?
I love watching these planes fly! My son has always wanted to fly, from the time he was little. This is a dream come true for him. Although I miss him terribly I get tons of satisfaction watching him succeed and achieve his goals and dreams. What a blessing!
As the day wore on it got hotter and hotter. Imagine standing out on that flight deck, in full uniform with long sleeves, for hours! I was glad for the ability to sit in the VIP tent and also for my Brita!
When it was time to go the kids were overheated and exhausted. I think most of them fell asleep on the way home. I’ll admit that I was glad my husband was driving because I know I nodded off more than once. Here’s the thing… I didn’t have my usual heat related headache. I realized I had sipped over 110 ounces of water! I’d filled it up from a variety of taps and every sip was clean tasting, without any weird flavors or odors. Between flooding and fracking I’d say that was a miracle!
The Brita water bottle with its own filtering system is easy to grab and go. Once the spout is pushed down it’s virtually none leaking. I chose the hard sided bottle because it worked best for me but there are other varieties to choose from. Whether you are going to the gym, running errands or heading off to an air show this water bottle is a great thing to have with you. Staying hydrated keeps your skin young, helps you maintain a healthy weight, and has numerous other benefits. Thankfully, Brita makes it easy.
