When I was a little kid way back in the 1960s there were a couple of things on television that I loved.
- Magilla Gorilla
- Doby Gillis
- Red Rose Tea commercial
Thanks to the magic of You tube I can watch the commercial whenever I want — and it still cracks me up. Easily amused? Who me?
A few weeks ago Red Rose/Salada contacted me to ask if my readers would be interested in hearing more about their tea. I thought that maybe you would and told them so. A couple of days after that a box appeared at my house and in it was the iconic Red Rose tea as well as a package each of Salada nectarine green tea and raspberry green tea.
You know what I did, right?
Yep. I made myself a cup of tea and watched the commercial for old times’ sake.
Once that was done I made some iced tea with the Salada nectarine green tea. As you may know I have been doing low carb and I couldn’t make my beloved Southern sweet tea so I made this unsweet. Once it was done I added it to my cup with some ice and stirred in stevia, my sweetener of choice.
The tea was light and bright, there is no other way to explain it. I loved the nectarine, it was just slightly different from peach — a little tangier and a little fresher I think. We go through a lot of tea around here and it’s nice to have a great choice of flavored or unflavored.
If you want the best sweet tea ever just follow the instructions on my Southern sweet tea post on Texas Well Seasoned for perfect tea every time. And watch the video… I just love those chimps!
