A Frozen Milky Way Daiquiri tastes exactly like it sounds. Chocolaty, caramelly, goodness with a kick.

I have always been a girlie drink kind of girl. Pina coladas, daiquiri, Margarita… you get the idea. Sweet? Creamy? Frozen? Yes please!
The only exceptions to that are Vodka Tonics and a special Roadhouse Tea from Logan’s. I don’t drink cocktails much but when I do they are fancy. Daiquiri, punch, and Tom and Jerry’s have always been Christmasy to me. I really do miss the “old days” where people had real cocktail parties at their homes, dressed up, and had fancy appetizers. Cocktails have names now that I would be embarrassed to say in mixed company!
There was just something elegant about those days — Dean Martin, men in suits and ties… martinis.
So, this isn’t a Daiquiri in the strictest sense because there is no citrus in it. Still… when I was developing the recipe and finally got to this one my son in law, Jon, took a sip. His eyes lit up. His jaw dropped. And then he let out a scream like a howler monkey as only Jon can.
“OMG, MOM!! This!”
The recipe is simple but don’t let that throw you. There is a careful balances that makes this a fun cocktail to serve on special occasions. I used several mini-marshmallows on a stick to garnish the drink but that’s only because the big marshmallows got used up last night when the kids made s’mores out on the deck.
Yeah, we finally warmed up to 45 degrees! Grampa fired up the firepit and pulled out the new s’mores forks. There’s a reason our littles adore him. He’s constantly created fun for them — generally involving chocolate or cokes.
Next time I make this I am going to add peppermint schnapps instead of caramel vodka so that it will have that luscious peppermint chocolate combo.
