Who doesn’t love a 30 minute mac and cheese recipe? And who doesn’t love cute, shaped pasta? Now, what if we put the creamiest 30 minute mac and cheese recipe ever together with the cutest pasta ever?
Disclaimer: The pasta was provided to me for review by The Pasta Shoppe. All opinions are my own and no other recompense was given.
A couple of days ago I was out having lunch with my stepdaughter when my husband texted me. So, I guess we’re having pasta for dinner?
A huge box full of a variety of pasta shapes and types was sitting on my table when I got home. As I went through it I had to laugh.
I don’ know if the company saw my state and made an educated guess or if it was just a coincidence but these two packages of pasta were right together in the box. Of course if you aren’t from Texas you may not know that these two schools have a huge rivalry. My husband got his degree from A & M so he says he will not eat the Longhorn pasta. My daughter likes to irritate my husband so she says she will not eat the Aggie pasta.
I say, let ’em starve.
Anyway, the company, Pasta Shoppe, makes a huge variety of themed pastas for special occasions that you can order. You can have shaped pasta for almost anything you plan on doing. There is horse shaped pasta which I think is going to be perfect as a treat for my horse crazy granddaughter. There’s baby shower pasta, basketball pasta, reindeer pasta and about a million other shapes as well.
It’s crazy stuff.
Some of the pastas come with flavoring pouches so that you can make soups, chili, and pasta salads. The also have a gluten free pasta.
The thing is that they have a fundraising program that schools and various groups can participate in. Instead of some of the stuff that no one really wants but everyone buys because they want you to buy from their kid your school can sell these pastas. Maybe it’s just me but give me alfredo over heart shaped pasta for Valentine’s Day and I am a goner.
I used zoo shaped pasta to make my basic, kid pleasing, creamier-than-Kraft mac and cheese. Since it was one of those days I just chopped up hot dogs in it and served it as the main dish. Yum… just like mom used to make… sort of. By the way, they also make meringues that are Out. Of. This. World. I literally had to hand the bag to my kids so I didn’t eat all of them. They’re only 7 calories each, y’all. 7.
But wait, there’s more! They said I could give away a box of a variety of their pasta to two lucky Restless Chipotle readers. How cool is that? The box is a treasure trove of seasonal pastas plus your choice of a collegiate pasta. It’s a $30 value!
So, head over to Pasta Shoppe and look over the different types of pastas they have. Then leave me a comment on this post telling which one you would choose and why.
Let’s give everyone a chance to participate and run this from today to Thursday, September 26 a 5:00 pm CST. Anything after that will not be counted but I’ll remind you on the Facebook page. Lets limit this one comment per person, OK? Please tweet and Facebook this as much as you can – here’s why. The more interest and traffic things like this get the more companies want to work with Restless Chipotle. I’d love to be able to give away Kitchenaids and trips to Hawaii, you know?
I thought so, too. Oh, and if you have been looking for a creamy, basic mac and cheese recipe just look no further.
