Chocolate Chip Cookies

Who does not like chocolate chip cookies?

I don’t know of anyone. Even people that don’t get real excited about chocolate ( and I find people like that a little unsettling, don’t you?) do usually like chocolate chip cookies. It really only comes down to two questions; Chewy or crispy? Thin or thick?

I will be honest with you. I like my chocolate chip cookies to be crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with a deep buttery -almost-salty flavor. I want them to be thick but not cakey. I am extremely picky about chocolate chip cookies, so when I say that these are the absolute best that I ever had, well I mean it.

Totally. Continue reading

Peanut Butter Cup Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies… ‘Nuff Said

Do you remember the old Reeses Peanut Butter Cup commercial? Two people were walking along, one eating peanut butter (from the jar!) and the other eating a chocolate bar. All of a sudden the people crash into eachother.

The early church was underground out of necessity – to be a Christian meant that you were in constant danger of arrest and death. So, rather than having a celebration that was different from those of the people around them, they adapted many of the traditions of the cultures they lived in.

Small cakes were sacrificed to various gods and given to neighbors and friends.  Continue reading

Holiday Hot Buttered Rum Pecan Pie Cheesecake…with Toffee

I have a hard time naming recipes and I don’t think I am the only one. Whereas decades ago people gave cakes imaginative names like:

  • Orange Kiss Me Cake
  • Hummingbird Cake
  • Shoofly Pie

Nowadays they are more likely to give it a string of names that describe the ingredients – a sad loss of creative verbiage in my opinion.

So, in the spirit of the Holidays which are, even as we speak, ringing the doorbell  I wanted to give this cheesecake a name that represented everything it is.

Easy Overnight Pecan Sticky Buns

Who doesn’t love gooey, sweet pecan sticky buns?  They are amazing when they are fresh and warm, dripping in buttery caramel with the aroma wafting through the house and making your tummy rumble. The problem is that they are a pain to make and you’d have to get up at 4 a.m to have them ready for breakfast, right?

Well, not quite. These do take a little time to put together but  they rise in the refrigerator overnight. Continue reading
