50 Best Pie Recipes on the Internet (and maybe in the world)

chocolate pie

Whether it is cherry, apple, coconut cream, or chess we all have  favorite pie.

Blueberry is my absolute favorite – although I don’t have a recipe for it on the blog. It was my dad’s favorite, too. Once when we were getting ready to move because of dad’s job we were looking at houses. My mom fell in love with a new construction and said, “Oh, I could really make blueberry pies in this kitchen!”

My mother, as you may remember, did not like to cook. She was good at it when she did but it wasn’t her favorite thing to do. Well sir, you know what happened don’t you? Yep – dad was all of a sudden smitten with the house, too.

We moved from that house when my dad was transferred about three years later. Do you know how many blueberry pies my mom baked in that kitchen? Exactly none. From that point on whenever someone tried to manipulate someone else in our family it was termed “making blueberry pies”. As in Are you making blueberry pies?  OR Cut me a slice of that blueberry pie when you get it made…

Roasted Banana Cream Pie – Intense Bananalicious Flavor

I love bananas. I swear I could go through a huge case of them by myself. So it is no surprise that I like banana cream pie.

Sadly, I can never leave well enough alone. I have to fix everything. Improve it. Play with it. Push it. See where it can go.

Roasting  caramelizes the sugars in the  food and intensifies the flavor whether it is a roast or a banana. (See where I am going with this?) Continue reading

National Pie Day January 23

Get ready. January 23 is not only my oldest son’s 25 birthday but it is National Pie Day! This year the American Pie Council is encouraging people to not only bake pies in celebration but to bake pies for the heroes in their lives.

This is from the email I was sent:

The American Pie Council (APC) is excited to roll out National Pie Day this Jan. 23.

This year, the APC is encouraging pie lovers to show their “pie-triotism” by sharing a pie with a hero in their life.  Whether it’s baking or buying a pie for a member of the military or their family, the local fireman, teacher or your parent, the gift of pie is a sincere gesture of kindness.  APC members are also offering coupons on to make buying or making a pie more affordable, as well as offering their own special pie day activities.

You can get recipes and find out more information at the National Pie Council website.

I think it is a great idea. You can bless someone, somewhere, whether it is in the police department, fire department, or anyone who you appreciate. Appreciation is always  a nice thing!

Need some ideas? I have done a few pies on the blog. Some of the images aren’t great but the recipes are spectacular. Check out these pies:

And..as soon as I can get images to load properly I will add them! GRRR! I hate technical glitches.
