Cookbook Review: Clean Eating for Busy Families

clean eating

Y’all, I am so far behind on my reviews and posts that it isn’t even funny. I haven’t even caught you up on what happened in Birmingham in January. I have some awesome Welches coupons to give away, products that you really do need to know about… and more. 2013 has been crazy. It didn’t help that I had another severe kidney infection with 105 fever which landed me in the emergency room with an IV in my arm. I was on bed-rest for another week – and that’s like the fourth time in six months. Then, there was an emotional meltdown over one client going bankrupt and another deciding to go in another direction. Money is tight, for sure. All of that came together to create the biggest stress load that I have had in years.

On the upside I lost the last ten pounds that I wanted to lose. I still plan to lose a bit more but I am at a healthy weight and I can wear a bikini this summer if I want. It’s just that  being sick and stressed is not the optimum way to lose weight! Continue reading

My First E-Cookbook and It’s Free!

A few weeks ago my friend Julie asked me a few questions and hinted that she had something for me. I was curious but overworked enough not to ask too many questions about it.

A few days later she sent me a gorgeous E-Book based on my recipes called, The Adventurous Kitchen. She told me how to set it up and how to make it so that you can download it for free.

Seduction in the Kitchen

A few days before Valentine’s Day I recieved a book for review. It was written by a man, for men, and contains everything a guy needs to know to seduce his lady with the ultimate romantic meal, place setting and napkin folding included.

The name? Sweeping Her Off Her Feet with Food by Eric S. Lee

I guess, being a woman, I was a bit skeptical about the whole premise of the book. I mean, seriously. If I am going to have a romantic evening a heavy meal isn’t something that is going to get me in the mood. Food or romance, but not at the same time.

The Book Signing Party

So the book signing on Saturday was a total blast. Several friends came in to town and stayed and I was so blessed. First of all it felt weird to walk into Barnes and Noble and see a sign with my name on it. A table that was for ME to sit at.

book-signing

As you know, Kelly from Evil Shenanigans was my baking slave on Friday. We made enough cookies that I took some home. I wanted to have something there that said..”Hey this cookbook is awesome, just taste this!” So, with that in mind we made sugar cookies, chai chocolate snowballs, and snickerdoodles. Someone did decide to buy the book on the basis of one bite of the chai chocolate snowballs- Just sayin’. Continue reading
