Easy Fried Cheese Recipe

fried cheese

A few days ago Marc and I spent the afternoon together and ended the day at a small Italian restaurant that we hadn’t tried before. The decor was simple but it smelled amazing inside. When I was asked if I would like some wine with dinner I gave them my challenge question.

“I don’t know what you have – do you have a ripe, fruity red?”

Now, if a waiter can come back with a glass of wine that I like from that description I am a happy, happy camper and the restaurant gains points. Lo and behold he came back with a lovely, fruity red – round, ripe berry, plum and cherry notes that were nicely balanced with a little tang at the end. I relaxed at that point – being pretty sure that they couldn’t mess too much up if they could get the wine right.

We decided to do a family style dinner which meant that we could order 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. It gave us a chance to taste a variety of dishes and really, the flavors were pretty delicious.

Overall.

One of Marc’s favorites is fried Mozzarella. I knew that would be one of the appetizers! I was waiting to see what they served… would it be homemade or would it be straight from the freezer bag?

Sigh. You know what I am going to say, don’t you? Continue reading

Disney Princess Birthday or Tea Party: Tea Sandwiches

So, when my oldest daughter turned 30 we decided to give her a party. My son in law and I were joking around and one of us said something about Disney princesses…and all of a sudden it was so. It just seemed perfect. If you knew Erin you would understand why.

Cookies and Cream Dip

If you like cookies and cream ice cream or cheesecake you’ll probably love this dip. It has all of that cookies and cream flavor with the tang of cream cheese. Chopped white chocolate is folded in for extra flavor. Delicious!

This is a sweet dip but if you like a sweet/salty combo consider using pretzel rods, pretzels, potato chips, or Ritz crackers as dippers. Continue reading

Homemade Onion Dip

I don’t know how long onion dip has been around but I think it is a standard for any casual party, get together, or game night. You know the drill; buy the packet of dry onion soup, add sour cream and… VOILA!

Onion dip.

Except as time went by we become more aware and concerned about chemical ingredients… additives… MSG.

I have happy, happy news for you. Continue reading

Jalapeno Popper Dip

Jalapeno poppers have got to be some of my favorite snacks. There is something about the heat of the pepper, the creaminess of the cream cheese, the crunch of the crumb coating… The combination is addictive.

The thing is that jalapeno poppers are a pain to make and they disappear so fast that it almost isn’t worth it – almost. Well, this jalapeno popper dip has the flavor, bite, and crunch of the poppers but it is so easy to make that it is ridiculous. Continue reading
