Restless Chipotle’s Foodie Friendly Christmas Shopping Guide 2012

restless chipotle holiday shopping guide

I know. This Christmas shopping guide should have been published at least a week ago. However it’s still not too late. Here are my top picks for your favorite foodies or, even better, to treat yourself to. After all, what else are you going to do with those gift cards?

herb scissors

RSVP Herb Scissors

Herb scissors are totally not necessary – but either is mascara, you know? They help you to finely chop all kinds of herbs easily and quickly.  I love these and they are cheap enough to be a great stocking stuffer or included in a gift basket. Under $15

rub away bar

Amco Rub Away Bar

Working with garlic, onions, and other strong smells can leave icky smells on your hands. I mean, garlic smells great when it’s being sauteed but not so much when you notice it is wafting around you like the ghost of recipes past just when you are meeting some one for the first time. Rubbing your hands over this takes care of all of that and leaves you smelling like that expensive perfume you got for your birthday. Under $10

hamilton beach slow cooker

Hamilton Beach 33967 Set ‘n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker

This is the slow cooker that I recommend. It is smarter than a lot of people I know. You can cook beef to the exact temperature you want using the probe, you can use the automatic function with a “keep warm” option, or you can use it manually. This is the one I got for my son last year and he loves it. Under $60

cookie scoops

OXO Good Grips Medium Cookie Scoop

Y’all have seen me use my scoops over and over again for everything from plating an attractive, clean plate to creating perfect, uniform cookies. If you can only get one choose the medium size but all three is the best way to go. Under $15

kitchen aid mixer

KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Empire Red

This is the one that Marc got me a couple of years ago when we got married as a wedding present from him. It is beautiful – and you know I love red. I don’t like how KitchenAids handle bread dough but for everything else? They are the only ones to go with for really perfect meringues, light cakes, and airy souffles. My has worked hard and it is still going strong. Ask Santa for this is you have been very very good – or very very bad. ;)  Under $500

bosch kitchen machine

 Bosch Universal Plus Kitchen Machine

Remember I said that I love the KA for everything but bread dough? If you make a lot of homemade bread, and especially if you use whole grains PLEASE give this a try. It is fabulous and even fresh ground 100% whole wheat loaves will rise light and fluffy rather than that dense stuff you have been making. Under $400 (on sale)

fruit infuser pitcher

Prodyne Fruit Infusion 93-Ounce Natural Fruit Flavor Pitcher

Most people make health resolutions for New Years – c’mon admit it! I love fruit infused water but I hat that sometimes it gets cloudy or you have to fish out soggy fruit. Here’s a pretty answer. I like how the fruit is displayed – it just looks good. Imagine layering strawberries and blueberries in it for summer parties. Under $20 (on sale)

There are some great food bloggers out there and a lot of them have written cookbooks. We all have drooled over Deb Perleman’s images on Smitten Kitchen. Now you can drool over her beautiful cookbook.

Bouchon Bakery is a must have for anyone’s collection. It’s Thomas Keller, for pete’s sake!

This is not a cookbook. It is a collection of images and food related stories from around the globe. The images are amazing – it’s National Geographic. A book to dream and drool over?

Yes please!

That’s all for now. I could probably create a list of my favorites that was much longer than this! If you didn’t see the perfect thing here then you can go directly to Amazon by clicking the link in the sidebar. Yep, if you buy something I will get a little pocket change from Amazon but that pocket change is part of the income that allows me to create your favorite recipes. :)
