Social Media + Foodie Tendencies = Smorgie

Smorgie is a new social media site that has been created exclusively for people who like food…which would be everyone, right?

Smorgie.com

You sign up and create lists of your favorite eateries – you can even add images of your favorite plates. Your friends are doing the same things, as are 50 million other people you don’t even know. Now, when you are traveling and looking for a great spot to have dinner all you need to do is to go to Smorgie, check the lists and find what you are looking for, along with pictures and reviews by people who have actually eaten there.

I typed in, French Food New Orleans and Smorgie came up with several restaurant names but none had been added by actual people yet. This may be a problem of just being new. I wish you could just type in the name of a city and have the reviews come up for all of the restaurants in that city. – which may be something they do later. The site is free to sign up for and as it gets bigger it will be more helpful to those people who are looking for a new place to eat and don’t want to take chances.

If you have friends that eat at restaurants often, or you are part of a foodie type network this may be exactly the new social media option you are looking for. Hey, it’s free… so there’s no harm in trying it for awhile.
