Eat Your Roses: A Book Review

It seems like I go through cycles. I will have a period of time where no PR people contact me about reviews and then all of a sudden I have five books and three products sitting on my table waiting for me to try them or read them or whatever.

Eat Your Roses: …Pansies, Lavender, and 49 Other Delicious Edible Flowers is an interesting little book, spiral bound, about … yep you guessed it… edible flowers. It isn’t just a collection of recipes, although that would be nice, but each flower has a page with information about it; a description, any necessary cautions, aroma or flavor, etc.

In the back are recipes like:

  • Lemon Verbena Salmon
  • Floral Butters
  • Fresh Salsa with Pineapple and Nasturtiums
  • Caramelized Onions with Lavendar

The images are delectible, and on every page.

The pages themselves are good an sturdy; it seems they won’t easily be ruined if you drip a little simple syrup or water on them during prep time.

All in all this is a fun addition to the adventurous pantry… and one of the best I have seen when it comes to edible flowers. It is about $14. 00 on Amazon and there is where I have trouble recommending it. With less than 100 pages it seems to me to be a bit pricey.

If you have the extra cash, you love the idea of edible flowers, and you want an informative, easy to read guide then this is the one for you.
