Saturday Surfing

Well.. I never got around to Saturday Surfing last week… but by the popularity of the  50 Best Cupcakes post I think you guys forgave me.

Exactly two weeks from today…. at right this moment in time..I will be somewhere in the air between Dallas and Miami getting ready for the adventure of a lifetime. I have never been on a cruise, and I have never been to the Caribbean… I will be sailing on the Norwegian Epic, a new ship that was just launched in June. I will be climbing around on Mayan ruins…which for me is a dream come true.

Always choose firm, slighly flattened onions with intact skin for best flavor.

You see, I am a history freak. I love being somewhere and thinking that thousands of people have been there before me…well except water fountains… THAT kind of freaks me out..I can only drink out of water fountains if I am dying of thirst. Anyway, the idea that I can touch what someone else built centuries and millenia ago? Love it.

I will soak up the sun on white sand beaches with turquoise water…and I will savor each new experience and share them with you. :) I don’t know how easily I will be able to catch you up on my adventures while I am gone but if you are not following me on twitter please go ahead and follow me at MaryeAudet. If at all possible I am going to try to keep in touch and share my adventure. I plan on eating at some local restaurants (and taking organic apple cider vinegar to sip every morning to keep my tummy healthy!) and experience the culture in the places we stop as much as I can. Hopefully I will be able to access the Internet enough to be able to update facebook and twitter…and I am hoping to bring something cool back for a giveaway when I get home. So be sure and friend/follow!

Which, by the way, I need to let you know that I have created a Facebook page for RestlessChipotle as well as a Youtube channel. If you “like” the RestlessChipotle page it will keep you upated as far as new posts and  events. Dallas readers? Keep an eye on the event page.. as soon as the plans for my reception are firmed up you will be getting an invitation! Hopefully this Fall I will be beginning a series of videos on techniques that are difficult to explain… like my infamous twisted lattice pie crust!

So, those are a few of the plans… stick with me here, y’all. We are going places.

So, Saturday Surfing. What did I find this week? Check it out!

In the next week or so many kids are headed back to school…teachers are headed back to work…Life is gonna be hectic until it becomes routine. This week I have chosen breakfast items that can be made ahead and frozen so you can streamline those hectic weekdays. As always… the best of the best!

Cherry Pie Muffins
Homemade Blueberry Poptarts
Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Muffins
Nectarine Turnovers
Sweet Corn Pancakes
Apple Cinnamon Quiche (I’d bake this in individual single serving crusts and freeze for easier breakfast serving!)
Breakfast Fruit Bread
Oatmeal Breakfast Bread
Scones with Pepperjack and Bacon
Deep Fried Crispy French Toast

Adding one more… Since Laura from Laura’s Best Recipes is on Cali time she posted this after I published…when I saw it I knew it was being added this morning! Banana Macadamia Nut Bread

And there  you have it. Breakfast can be amazing AND fast.  Have a great week, y’all. Be blessed. :)

  1. I’m with you, Marye! Just being in the same place, and touching the same things that people so many years ago built–is an awesome thought. So thrilled for you–you deserve this trip so much!

  2. We just did a Western Caribbean cruise in June. You’ll love it! Have a wonderful time!
Thanks for including my Oatmeal Breakfast Bread in your roundup. It’s a lifesaver on busy mornings. :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this timely article! I will be working on these this week and adding them to our freezer. Knowing the oldest ones have the option of a warm breakfast just a microwave zap away helps Mom-guilt for not being there to make it fresh!

  4. This post is getting bookmarked!

And I can’t wait till I see you!!!

  5. Enjoy your cruise Marye. I have never taken a cruise but I have been to the Mayan Roviera where we spent next to no time relaxing at our hotel and opted instead for exploring all the Mayan ruins in the area.
