I thought that in addition to some recipes I hope to get posted I would do a couple of round-ups of various menus you might need for New Years Eve and New Year’s Day. I will try to keep them easy, amazing, and fantastic. You know…my usual stuff.

This first one is a dinner menu for New Years Eve. While your New Year’s Day menu should be comfort food and homestyle I think that a New Year’s Eve menu should be glitzy and sophisticated. Doing that and keeping it easy is not so..well…easy. This menu I have come up with seems a perfect balance of make ahead and glitz…an I even have included wine suggestions at the end. Nice of me, huh?
Dinner Menu For New Years Eve
Tangerine and Maple Chicken – Grill as much as a day ahead, refrigerate and then pop into the oven 40 minutes before dinner is to be ready. You can make the glaze up to three days ahead of time.
Wild Rice Pecan and Cranberry Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette – Make the vinaigrette up to three days ahead of time. Make the rice (slightly undercook) and prep the ingredients the day before. Steam the rice just before serving and continue as the recipe directs.
Maple Glazed Parsnips and Turnips (I would add some carrots too, for flavor and color
Easy Dinner Rolls – you can make these ahead by baking until done but not browned. Freeze and then bake in a 425F oven until golden (don’t thaw first)
Turtle Cheesecake – a little different, classic and delicious.
Try Stone Cellars Chardonnay or if you have a little extra cash try Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs 2006. The flavors in that sparkling white will compliment the maple and tangerine in the chicken.
